Velma E Brinker, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the age of 101 years old in Forest Lake, Minnesota while surrounded by her family. Blessed with a long life, she will be forever loved and missed by many.
Velma was born July 4, 1920 on a farm in Dalbo, Minnesota, the 4th of 6 children born to Herman and Ruth Gallmeier . She married her first husband, Willard C Anderson, on May 15, 1941. They made a home in White Bear Lake, Minnesota where they raised their five children, Willard Jr., Michael, Dennis, Jerry and Nancy. Willard passed on August 13, 1958. Velma married her second husband, Marvin H Brinker, on August 20, 1960. They raised their three children in Chisago City, MN, Debra, Pamela and Timothy. Eventually Velma and Marvin moved to Forest Lake, MN where they spent the rest of their lives. Marvin passed on March 11, 1997.
Velma was a homemaker in addition to being a cook in restaurants in the White Bear Lake and Chisago Lakes areas and for a period of time owned and operated the Wagon Wheel restaurant in Chisago City. She loved her family, making a home, Sunday dinners, holidays, visitors, black coffee, crocheting, crossword puzzles and books.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents; siblings; two daughters-in-law, Shirlee and Yvonne; two grandchildren, Jennifer and David. Velma is survived by her children, Willard Jr. (Renee), Michael, Dennis, Jerry, Nancy (Bob), Debra (Bob), Pamela and Timothy; 26 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Thanks and gratitude go to the staff at Birchwood Arbors and Healthcare Center who helped her in her final years and to the staff of AccentCare Fairview Hospice who cared for her in her final days.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial celebration at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1790 11th Street SE, Forest Lake, MN on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Visitation and greeting from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, service at 1:00 pm followed by a luncheon. We respectfully ask that masks be worn inside the church. Interment at Union Cemetery, 2nd Avenue, White Bear Lake, MN.
