We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Mattson Funeral Home & Cremation Service
Mary (nee Belina) Marquardt left us on May 26, 2022, at the age of 72.
Loved by too many to name, which include, husband, Lee; daughter, Erin; parents, Edward and Rosella; siblings, David (Nancy), Ann, Carrie, and Charlie (Sara); lifelong friends, Bob and Joan, Janis, and “blood sis”, Joyce.
Mary was born April 24, 1950, in Owatonna, Minnesota. She graduated from Marian High School, Class of 1968. She went on to further her education at Mankato University, graduating in 1972. She was a fourth-grade teacher in Adams, Minnesota before beginning her career with the United States Postal Service, where she worked for 31 years.
Endlessly curious, she loved to travel. Trips included, backpacking around Europe after college, annual sister’s trips, vacationing in Mexico, and the North Shore in later summer with college friends. Mary also loved going out to eat with good friends (especially on patios), reading, movies, walking and church. Throughout her life, she touched many with her kind and generous nature. Making the effort to stay in contact, she was forever interested in other’s lives. She sure could carry a conversation! Mary always stayed upbeat and strong, even when dealing with numerous bouts of cancer.
A remarkable wife, mother, sister, and friend. She lived a full, beautiful life and will always live in our hearts.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, Minnesota. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. We invite anyone who knew her to attend and remember her wonderful life. Memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
