Leonard Nalty, age 80, a 15-year resident on Island Lake in Spooner, Wisconsin, went to be with his Savior on Friday, September 25, 2020. Len bravely battled a number of health-related issues later in life, and we are thankful he now has his eternally pain-free body in Heaven!

Leonard Francis William Nalty was born on December 28, 1939, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to parents Kenneth and Dorothy (Campbell) Nalty. After graduating from Saint Paul Monroe (class of 1957) where he lettered in both Football and Track & Field, Len married his high school sweetheart Irma (Hanks) Potratz in April of 1959, and were blessed with two children, Laura and Kenneth. After briefly working for Whirlpool, Len spent the remainder of his working years with the Milwaukee Road, Soo Line, and CP Rail in Saint Paul. Len remarried in April of 1966 to Patricia (Krebs) of Fort Wayne, Indiana who went home to Heaven on September 6, 2018. They were blessed with two children, Christopher and Jon.

Len was a patriot who loved his country. He enjoyed living the retired "lake life", looking out for his neighbors, going on pontoon rides, bird watching, riding his ATVs, wood working, target shooting, and talking with anyone who'd lend him an ear (he befriended everyone). Len was an outdoorsman who truly loved and appreciated all of God's creation, especially dogs. One of his childhood nicknames was "Bubble Gum Nalty", given to him by the Saint Paul Pioneer Press as he loved to chew gum while flying line-controlled planes with his father Kenneth. Len was a popular prankster in high school, and was known for his good looks and charming personality.

Leonard will be greatly missed by his daughter Laura (Gary) Eide of Lanesboro, MN, his sons Kenny (Julie) Nalty of Clermont, IA, Chris Nalty (girlfriend Kim Booher), and Jon (Kimberly) Nalty of Blaine, MN, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and his extended Indiana family.

A very special thank you for the care and support from Len's doctors, nurses, and hospice care team.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Radisson Road Baptist, 13627 Radisson Rd NE, Ham Lake.
