Jeanne Kay Hajnasiewicz, age 73, passed away peacefully November 8, 2020 at GracePoint Crossing in Cambridge, MN.  She died 12 years and one day after the love of her life, Thomas Hajnasiewicz.

Jeanne was a “New Year’s Eve” baby, born just 3 minutes before midnight on December 31, 1946 to Angeline Hronski and James Jordan.  (Her mother joked she wanted a tax deduction for that year).  From her teenage years until her mother’s death, Jeanne’s mom would always call her 3 minutes before her birthday.  Jeannie grew up in NE Mpls and lived in New Hope / Crystal area during her teen years.  She graduated from Cooper High School in Robbinsdale, the first class to do so in the new facility.

After high school, Jeanne began what would become a life-long career working with numbers.  Her first job was in the collections department at Sears & Roebuck in Minneapolis.  In her early 20s, she moved to California with her grandma, where they lived with her aunt and uncle for a year before returning to spend the rest of her life in Minnesota.

Shortly after relocating back home to Minnesota, Jeanne met and fell in love with Thomas Hajnasiewicz.  She married her true love on July 3, 1969, and the two of them spent 39 years together before Tom died at the young age of 64 from cancer.

Jeanne adored her kids; she loved her family and friends, she talked loud and laughed hard; and she always had something to say.

Jeanne worked as a bookkeeper for H&R Block for many, many years and would not even think about leaving for the day until everything was balanced “to the penny”.

In her later years, Jeanne was a beacon of light to all the residents who lived in her same facility.  She was the Treasurer (always the numbers girl), the social butterfly, the person who remembered everyone’s name and the one who always concerned how they were doing.  She touched many lives with her caring nature, and always had candy waiting for her nurses and any visitors.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas.  She is survived by her three children; Thomas (Carolyn) Hajnasiewicz of Ham Lake, Ted (Phyliss) Hajnasiewicz of Watertown, and Angela (Jeff) Sharpe of Cambridge, and her grandchildren Stella Pearce, Dylan Hajnasiewicz, Lucas Van However and Nick Hajnasiewicz.

With Covid restrictions, no official memorial service will be held.  A private ceremony with immediate family will take place at Fort Snelling Cemetery at a later date, when she will be laid to rest next to her late husband.
