Evangeline "Jelly Bean" Moore

June 27, 2012 — October 16, 2019

Chisago Lakes Township

Evangeline Della Moore was born on June 27, 2012.  She was eagerly welcomed by Mom, Dad, and big sisters, Hannah and Sophia.  Evangeline quickly became our “Jelly Bean.”  Evangeline had an adventurous spirit and enormous servant heart from the start.  There was nothing that she wasn’t excited to try, and she would always try to bring everyone on the ride with her.  In 2014, at the age of 2.5, after a very short course of symptoms, Jelly Bean was diagnosed with DIPG, a 100% fatal brain tumor, and we were told that she would not survive a year.  Though she faced insurmountable obstacles, her perseverance taught us all about how to live big, and her reach was nothing less than world-wide.  Two years later our girl was struck again with another diagnosis, GBM.  Again, a devastating diagnosis, and an expected year to live.  Once more our girl faced her circumstances with enthusiasm, infectious joy, and always a cup of hot cocoa!!  After fighting gracefully for nearly five years the cancer spread throughout her brain.  Though her medical regimen was heavy, her attitude made it seem like a back-burner issue.  She learned to walk twice, then dance, swim, ski and hike (which she affectionately calls going on a ‘hunt’.)  She went to school, traveled, and had the opportunity to do so many wonderful things, but her favorite by far was just to be with her family.  Her greatest gift was a baby brother (until he could walk, of course), and family movie night every week was a treasured and anticipated time.  She would not accept a gift or opportunity without considering her siblings, many times collecting anything given to her, to bring it home and gift it to her siblings.  She would regularly and freely give away her things to any visitor she met, often times pillaging her bedroom to do so.  Jelly Bean treasured the people in her life more than any of her things, and so has left a legacy of love that we pray will be evidence of the lavish love of God to everyone she touched.  Evangeline is survived by her parents, Stephen and Katherine Moore; siblings, Hannah, Sophia, Asher.  Additionally, she is survived by all her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Lakes Free Church, 29620 Olinda Trail, Lindstrom, Minnesota.  Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at the church. “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who had been His counselor?  Or who has given a gift to Him that He might be repaid?  For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.  To Him be the glory forever.  Amen.” Romans 11:34-36
