Douglas B. Johnson, age 66, of Wyoming, lost his battle with cancer and died peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2020.  Doug was the third child out of six born to Robert and Doris (Hendrikson) Johnson on March 19, 1954. Throughout his childhood, the family resided in East Bethel.  Many summer weekends and holidays the family headed up to the cabin to do some fishing on Lake Osakis, His lifelong love of fishing, hunting, and observing wildlife surely came as a result of his childhood years spent up at the cabin. He also loved playing cribbage and other board and card games, having been introduced to them when the fishing was done and everyone gathered in the cabin. Doug was a graduate of Forest Lake High School, Class of 1972. He played high school football.  Following high school, Doug proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.  He trained and was stationed in California. He was honorably discharged and returned to the Forest Lake area.  Doug had several jobs, but spent most of his working years truck driving.  Doug will be remembered as friendly, kind, and easy going.  He was generous with his time, and quick to offer help to anyone who asked. At 6 foot 4 and well over 200lbs, he was like a gentle giant. He will be greatly missed.  Doug was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (fiance Adam Brandt) Nourse; grandchildren, Alexis Brandt, Mason Brandt; siblings, Greg, (Holly) Johnson, Patty (Bruce) Holzschuh, Pam (David) Bradshaw, Bill Johnson, Ted Johnson; several nieces and nephews, family, and friends.  Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday .June 30, 2020 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake.  Private Graveside Service with full military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
