Delores A. “Del” Eagan, 89, of Chisago City, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 with her family by her side following a long struggle with dementia and strokes.  She was born December 11, 1930.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald J. Eagan; brother, George Kruse; parents, Michael and Julia Kruse.  She is survived by her son, Donald C. (Sarah) Eagan; grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Gillespie, Eric Eagan, Mark (Chelsea) Eagan; great grandchildren, Aydan, Alexis, Hailey.  Del was orphaned at a young age and grew up with her brother, George, in Mrs. Nelson’s home.  George meant the world to Del.  She graduated from Washington High School and left Mrs. Nelson’s to provide for herself.  Her first job was as a fry cook at Al’s off Rice Street across from McCarron’s Lake.  She would soon meet her soldier, Don, who just returned from serving in the Philippines.  They were married on August 11, 1951 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.  They made a home and raised a family just off Hwy 36 and Rice Street with all of Don’s family living around them.  She looked forward to Christmas when all the Eagan families would go to each other’s homes and she could hear what is happening in the lives of all the nieces and nephews.  Don and Del enjoyed 55 years of marriage which was the best years of her life.  Del took great pride in her work at Brown and Bigelow, Gould National Battery and Unisys.  She was extremely organized and kept detailed records of everything!  She never missed a birthday and showered her family with gifts.  She loved to read.  She always had a book in her hands and she thoroughly dissected the St. Paul paper tearing out and sorting her favorite sections to read.  She was also a rock hound and made Don haul back many a boulder from the places they traveled to.  This progressed into a hobby that resulted in cut stones and jewelry that are still treasured today.
