Constance  "Connie" Zusan died peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer on April 22, 2021 at the age of 75.

Our loving mother, sister, Mimi and friend is survived by her husband: Orrie Thompson; children: Mike (Gail), Joel-Lynn (Mike); foster-children: Nonny, Jeannie and several others, seven cherished grandchildren: Brooke (Brandon), Nash, Ellie (Ben), Joe, Walker, Kendall, Macallister; step-children: Rick, Judy and siblings: Fran (Dave), Barb (Tom), Thomas, Kiki, Jim; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is being welcomed to heaven by her parents: Lorraine and Gerald Zusan; sisters: Terri, Michelle and daughter: Sherri.

Connie was born on July 27, 1945 in St. Paul, MN to Gerald  and Lorainne (Jackels) Zusan. She grew up in St. Paul with her seven siblings and  graduated from Saint Agnes high school. Connie lived in Hugo, MN with her first husband, Gary, for the majority of her years. In 2018, Connie met her current husband, Orrie. They were married and moved to Mora, MN.

Connie had a passion for many things in life. She worked for many years in the medical field at Hazelden, St. Paul Heart Clinic and most recently Regions Hospital. She dabbled in interior design and earned her  Master Gardener certification. She knew the answer to any medical ailment  and was often referred to the family as Dr. Connie. She loved to spend time with friends and family. There was rarely an occasion that she wasn’t at one of her grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved a full pantry, new recipes with ingredients no one could find, but garlic was the one main staple of every one. She was very creative and artistic. She was a connoisseur of Asian food and did I mention recipes with garlic?! She enjoyed anytime spent with her husband including attending car shows and watching “The Wheel”.

She was an active member of the community, donating her abundance of home grown vegetables to the food shelf, donating items to local schools, women’s shelters and helping whenever someone needed a hand with decorating, gardening or advice.

A private service is scheduled for Friday, April 30th at Mattson’s Funeral Home at 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN 55025, with a visitation to follow from 5pm-7pm.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Connie's life. The family would like to thank Abbott Hospital and staff for all their care and compassion. All the friends and family who have supported Connie and the family on this journey the last few years. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Happy Trails and as Connie would say, “never stop having fun”.
