It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas Marvin Miller, a man of devout faith and intelligence. Tom was born on May 12, 1936, and transitioned out of this life on October 22, 2025. Through his journey of 89 years, he touched many lives with his faith, wisdom, humor and an unwavering love of family.
Tom served his country in the Air National Guard for 8 years with activation to France during the Berlin Crisis. He was a graduate in Chemistry at the University of Minnesota with employment at 3M, Buckbee Mears Co, and Plasti Dip International.
Driven by an endless curiosity, Tom was a lifelong learner of astronomy, and a devoted biblical scholar. He had a passion for family gatherings, star gazing, prayer, and scripture reading along with pleasures of food, travel and an annual visit to the State Fair. This spirit which characterized his life translated into lessons he earnestly imparted onto those around him.
Tom's legacy of knowledge, faith, and family will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His remarkable life will forever be an inspiration, a testament of unconditional love with curiosity and resilience.
He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, David Miller, Nora (Carl) Praml, Dan (Janet) Miller, and Jim Miller; brother-in-law, David Massman; niece/nephews, David, Tracy, David.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Evie Miller; children, Brenda (Mike) Driscoll, Jon (Julie) Miller, Lori (Marv) Babcock; grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) DeCourcy, Brandon (Maggie) Nelson, Ari (Glen) Miron, Justin (Dani) Miller, Tommy (Morgan) Babcock, Jacob (Katelyn) Miller, Charlie (girlfriend Phebie) Babcock, Jeff (girlfriend Amber) Miller; step-grandchildren, Aaron (Amanda) Driscoll, April (Sean) Dobb, Noah (Lindsey) Driscoll; great-grandchildren, Vivian, Lucia and Jamison DeCourcy, Myla and Millie Miron, Scottie and Jepsen Babcock, Eden and Everett Driscoll, who were the lights of his life. Tom is also survived by his sibling, Linda Massman; sisters-in-law, Cindy Miller, Diane Miller; nieces/nephews, Kathy, Sandy, Mary, Mike, Steven, Chrissy, Gary, Karen, Scott. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family and all who mourn Tom's departure.
The family will greet friends from 9:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2025 with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mattson Funeral Home 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, Minnesota. A luncheon will follow at the Forest Lake American Legion. Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. We invite all who knew and loved Tom to join us in honoring his memory.
