Stanley "Stan" J. Berry, from Wyoming, Minnesota passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his home, at the age of 73 on April 26, 2025.
Stan was born on March 3, 1952 to Lloyd and Marian (Lamberty) Berry in Forest Lake, Minnesota. He grew up in Wyoming and graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1971, with a Varsity Letter in football.
Stan met the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Patricia “Patty” Peterson, in 1971 at a party where they talked till the wee hours of the night. The spark was lit and the rest is history. They married on May 31, 1975 and would go on to have 8 children together. Staying close to his roots, they built their life together in Wyoming, close to his childhood home. Stan was a well-respected man in the community as a captain on the local fire department and if you ever were in need of a tow from his brother Dale, chances are, he picked you up. All of his kids were in sports and you'd always see him cheering them on and sometimes even ump a game or two!
Stan started working at Wyard Industries in 1981. In 2005, the company relocated him to Colorado. Stan and Patty would live there for the next 12 years. Their kids made several trips to see them every year and they took many road trips home as well. He retired in 2018 after 37 years with the company.
After retirement, they returned to Minnesota to be closer to their kids and grandkids. Stan spent his retirement doing what he loved most, spending time with Patty and their children and grandchildren. Together Stan and Patty enjoyed garage saling in the spring and summer, he was always on the hunt for the perfect item one of the kids "needed," usually a chess or cribbage board or maybe a one-of-a-kind die cast car or truck. They also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino with friends. He went on several family trips to Florida and South Carolina. It didn't matter to him where it was as long as he was with family. He also checked off some bucket list items and took a road trip with Patty and their son Jon to Cooperstown and Gettysburg. He loved baseball and WWII, so that trip was one of a lifetime for him. If he happened to be alone (this didn't happen too much with his large family) you would catch him reading several books at a time. True Crime fiction undoubtedly. Saturdays were for breakfast at Grandma and Grandpa's, he'd make his famous omlettes and a tradition passed down from his dad, Grandpa's pancakes. He was always up for a game of cribbage with his kids or a game of basketball or catch with his grandkids. He was never short on time for his family.
Stan is greatly missed, our lives are forever changed and our hearts will always hold a place for him. He was the kindest and most gentle soul you'd ever meet. The best example to live by.
Stan is survived by his wife, Patty; his eight children, Stacy (Darin) Hogan, Sarah (Tim) Lamourea, Shelly (Paul) Berry, Joe, Jon, James (Courtney), Shayla (Dustin) Berry and Justin; his 12 grandchildren, Caleb Hogan, Max and Ava Lamourea, Patricia (PJ) Berry, Roman Jonas, Leo and Charlotte (Charlie) Berry, Connor Kelly, Jaxon, Cameron (Cam), and Jameson (Jamie) Berry and Quentin (Q) Pavy; his brothers and sisters, Thomas (Barb), Dennis, Dale, Donna Petterson, Carole (Jack) Loken and Lynne Berry; mother-in -law, Josie Peterson; sisters in law, Sandy Peterson and Marilyn Peterson; many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Vernon 'Bud' Peterson; special niece, Kristine Loken; sisters in law, Sue Berry and Sandy Berry; brothers in law, Gordy Peterson and Hank Petterson and lifelong best friends, Jerry Moser and Danny Rieck.
