Shirley Ann Pape (formerly Tacheny), our strong and loving family matriarch, passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 86. While our hearts are sad, we are grateful to know she is now safe in the arms of Jesus.
Shirley had a zest for life and thought each day should hold fun, love, laughter, and a bit of mischievousness. If you saw that gleam in her eye and that special grin, you knew something spunky was coming. Spending time with family brought Shirley great joy. Whether it was sharing a meal, celebrating a birthday or holiday, going fishing, traveling, playing games, doing art projects, putting puzzles together, a quiet chat to catch up, or letting the little ones style her hair, family time always filled her heart. While Shirley touched many lives and was very blessed during her life, the loving relationships she had with her grandchildren ranked at the top of her gratitude list.
Shirley is survived by her loving and devoted husband Gerry, as well as their fun and boisterous family: Greg Tacheny (Kris), TerrieLynn Clark Mondor (Rod), Vickie Witt (Mark), Mike Tacheny (Dawn), Scott Tacheny (Ann) Andrea Weatherford (David), and Jackie Pape (Jim). Shirley was blessed with and is survived by 20 incredible grandchildren and 36 wonderful great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three beautiful grandchildren- Melissa, Jessica, and Brenna.
Shirley was also proud to be a friend of Bill W. for 23 years. The friendships and support she experienced during those years were invaluable.
