Sherri L. Smith

November 23, 1963 — August 12, 2025

Linwood Township

Sherri Lynn Smith, age 61, of Linwood Township, Minnesota, passed away after facing multiple health challenges with strength and courage.

Sherri was born on November 23, 1963, in Rush City, Minnesota, to Edward and Susan (Hulseberg) Linehan Jr. She spent her early years in Sunrise and attended North Branch Schools before graduating from Coon Rapids High School. After high school, she pursued nursing, guided by a deep sense of care for others.

In the early 1980s, Sherri ventured to Washington in search of new beginnings and adventure. Though her journey took her far from home, she returned to Minnesota in the late '80s to raise her family in Linwood Township, where she remained rooted in love and community.

It was in 1994, during an unexpected moment, that Sherri met the love of her life, Scott Smith. Drawn to him instantly, she asked him for a ride on his motorcycle. They talked until sunrise—and from that moment on, their love story began. They were married a few years later, creating a bond that would endure through life’s highs and lows.

Sherri worked as a banker at Wells Fargo for many years, forming lasting connections with colleagues and customers alike. She eventually retired due to health concerns, including a successful kidney and pancreas transplant she received on August 1, 2007.

Sherri was bold, spirited, and one-of-a-kind. A true spitfire—stubborn, wild, and unforgettable. She adored her pets and had a soft spot for online games like Candy Crush and Farmville. She also held a deep love for her classic cars—most memorably, her 1978 factory orange Camaro and her iconic 1973 sky-blue Monte Carlo.

Sherri is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cynthia Schwalich.

She is survived by her loving husband, Scott; her son, Zachery (Alexis Wiita); grandchildren, Isaiah Wiita and Lucas Combel; siblings, Robert (Stacy) Linehan, Kathy (Tony) Corso, and Linda Linehan; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.

Sherri's presence brought color, grit, and laughter to the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Private family services will be held.
