Ronald Sparrow

Ronald G. Sparrow, age 88 of Hugo, Minnesota died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 22, 2020.  Ron was born March 21, 1931 in Kasson, Minnesota the son of Clayton and Kate (Dahlenberg) Sparrow.  The family moved to Hugo, Minnesota when Ron was eight years old.  He graduated from Centennial High School, Class of 1948.  Following high school, he worked on his parent’s farm.  While attending the Fourth of July Carnival in 1951, Ron met the love of his life, Yvonne Sancartier.  They dated for three years before getting married at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hugo in 1954.  Ron worked for many years as a structural fitter with Maxon Inc. and later became part owner of Metro Sewer and Water.  In his retirement years, he worked at Hugo Compost Site.  Ron continued to work until his death, he was a hard worker who always said, “Do it right the first time so you don’t have to do it over”.  Ron was an active member of his church, New Life Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and most of all spending time with his beloved family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 11 siblings, Arnold, Merlin, Stewart, Irene, Maxine, Vera, Elizabeth, Grace, George, Mike, Roger.  He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him including his loving wife of 65 years, Yvonne; devoted children, Stephen (Cindy) Sparrow, Elizabeth (Kermit) Edstrom, Daniel (Kim) Sparrow; grandchildren, Emily Sparrow, Samantha (Daniel Martinez) Sparrow, Nicholas Scott, Clayton Sparrow; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Katrina, Patrick, Colin, Nathaniel, Benjamin, William, Marcus, Acelyn; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2020 at New Life Lutheran Church, 6000 148th St North, Hugo, Minnesota.  The family will greet guests one hour prior to the service at the church.  Private interment will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
