Bob Carlson, age 64, of Coon Lake, Minnesota, died while surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Bob was born, July 3, 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Curtis and Marlys (Troftgruben) Carlson. Bob began his career as a mold maker with C&S Machine. Later, he along with his father and brothers, founded St. Croix Forge; where he worked for over 20 years. He and his father designed the production machinery to produce horseshoes. Bob was an amazing man; nothing was beyond him. From crafting his own parasail system, to discovering the inner workings of clocks and even lending his hand to quilting, Bob was a doer and teacher of all things. He loved fishing, hunting, golfing, being at his cabin up north and spending his winters at their home in Estero, Florida. He was a true family man, he was kind, loving and generous with his time and talents. His passing will leave a void in the lives of so many; especially his beloved family; both by birth and those he welcomed into his home and life over the years. He is preceded in death by his father, Curtis. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary; children, Craig (Kate), Tim (Kathy), Jeremy; grandchildren, Riley, Nathaniel, Zachary, Ethan; mother, Marlys; siblings, Clinton (Jayne), Michael (Susan), Carla (Bill) Blackledge, Connie (Jeff) Erickson, Ken (Leslie Halpin); four-legged son, Rusty; other family and many dear friends.
His life will be celebrated at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m., until the service at the funeral home. Private family interment at Victor Hill Cemetery, Linwood Township, Minnesota.
