Richard Everett Halvorson

December 24, 1931 — August 8, 2023

Richard Everett Halvorson Sr. died August 8, 2023, at Parkview Senior Living in Belview, Minnesota.  He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Richard "Dick" was born on December 24, 1931 in Duluth, Minnesota to Alvin and Helia Halvorson. He was a loving husband, father and loyal friend to all who got to know him.  Dick and his wife, Donna, loved to entertain family and friends at their home in Forest Lake and Dick was always up for a hot game of cards, whether 500, Hand & Foot or Cribbage.  He also enjoyed rousting his children out of bed at 4 a.m. to go rent a rowboat and cast a line in one of the many local lakes.

Most of all, Dick took great joy in teaching others about the Bible’s hope for the future.  Since his dedication in December of 1964 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Dick spent countless hours teaching others the wonderful truths contained in the Holy Scriptures.  He carefully instilled in his children the importance of meeting attendance and the house-to-house ministry in their lives.  Come Saturday morning they never had to ask what they would be doing.  They already knew.  Dick especially enjoyed striking up conversations with random strangers spreading seeds of Kingdom truth at every opportunity.

Dick was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna; his parents, Alvin and Helia Halvorson; his brother, Robert; his sister, Lorraine and great-grandchildren Luke and Morgan.

He is survived by his 5 children:  Richard Halvorson Jr. and wife Deborah; Judith Olson and husband Kermit; Darla Nutter and husband William; Steven Halvorson and wife Jill; David Halvorson and wife Tina as well as 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
