On Thursday, November 17, 2022, Richard Joseph Jungwirth lost his battle to brain cancer. He was 72 years old. Born to Richard and Anna Jungwirth in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Richard joined the United States Army after high school and served through the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart following an honorable discharge. He came home to then marry and build a family with his beloved wife, Linda. He worked at Consolidated Freightways until he retired and moved to Park Rapids, Minnesota. He loved all things outdoors; fishing, hunting and camping. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; brother, Dave. Rich is survived by his three boys, Chad (Missy) Jungwirth, Todd (Greta) Jungwirth, Adam (Tina) Jungwirth; grandchildren, Benjamin Richardson, Jackson Jungwirth, Samantha Jungwirth, Erik Jungwirth, Brooke Jungwirth, Josh Jungwirth; multiple brother and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
