Peter Pream

Peter A. Pream, age 65, of Stacy, Minnesota, passed away at home displaying incredible love and bravery through a brutal cancer battle on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Peter provided lifelong service, first in the U.S. Army for two years and then with the St. Paul Fire Department for 29 years. Peter joined the fire department in 1975, was promoted throughout his career and retired as Deputy Fire Chief in 2004. Although he was known as a "mean man" in the fire department and loved to give orders, it was with the unwavering commitment to protect. He loved spending time year-round in Hackensack, MN at his cabin on Stony Lake where his family will spread his ashes. He enjoyed fishing, campfires, teaching everyone to ski, and American Legion meat raffles. Peter was a natural athlete and loved hockey, football, golf, bowling... and he was the best of "the old guys" that golfed/bowled on Tuesdays! Peter procastinated many projects, was proud to host his annual Booya, loved to travel and, although recovering from a very difficult surgery, made his last trip to Mexico in March. He was unique, a beloved curmudgeon with an incredible sense of humor, and a wonderful Papa to many. Pete left his home, finally at peace and without pain, in his favorite Margaritaville t-shirt and Zubaz. Peter is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda; daughters, Alison (Ian) and Stacey (Keith); granddaughters, Emersin and Oriana; siblings, Bill (Jan) and Paul (Shelly); and many friends. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Bernice. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 5:30 p.m., Friday, September 29,2017 at the Forest Lake American Legion, 355 West Broadway Avenue and it will last "20 minutes". The family will greet friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m.
