Patricia "Pat" Rae Hovind, age 80, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home after suffering a devastating stroke from which she was unable to recover.
Pat was born on April 21, 1946, to Sylvester and Dorothy Armstrong. She grew up in Mounds View, Minnesota, and attended St. Cloud State University. While raising her children, Pat worked part-time so she could devote herself to her family. Her career reflected her compassionate heart as she worked in child development before later becoming a driver's education instructor.
Pat's life was defined by her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to others. She volunteered for many years helping elderly individuals by driving them to appointments, assisting with shopping, delivering meals, and offering companionship. Whether family, friend, or neighbor, Pat was always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
She was a faithful member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Mounds View for more than 30 years, where she formed lasting friendships and lived out her caring spirit.
Pat embraced life with joy and treasured the time she spent with family and friends. She loved playing cards, trying her luck at bingo and casino outings, enjoying luncheons with friends, and traveling whenever she had the opportunity. She had countless dear friendships throughout her life and possessed a contagious laugh that could brighten any room. Her loving heart, gentle wisdom, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Dorothy Armstrong, and her beloved husband, Norman Hovind; her siblings, Kathryn Eiler and Steven Armstrong.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Nicole Hovind, Lorel Hovind, and Brandon Hovind; four grandchildren, RaeAnnyn (Dyllon) Davis, Cole Hovind, Shane West, and Hayden Hovind; brother-in-law, James Eiler; sister-in-law, Dorinda Armstrong; along with nephews, Skyler (Jessica) Armstrong, Sylvester (Amanda) Armstrong, Donovan (Corie) Armstrong; extended family members, and countless dear friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive, Mounds View, MN 55112. Family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Life was always brighter around the card table with Pat. All she needed was a deck of cards, the people she loved, and a room filled with laughter to turn an ordinary day into a cherished memory.
