In Loving Memory of Neil William McLouth
October 30, 1939 – June 6, 2026
Throughout life’s joys and challenges, Neil William McLouth held fast to his deep faith in God’s love and forgiveness. That foundation gave him a quiet confidence, a gentle spirit, and a steady hope as he looked forward to the promise of being gathered home by the Lord.
Neil was born on October 30, 1939, to Duane and Eunice McLouth in Belgrade, Minnesota, and grew up in New London, where he graduated from high school in 1957. From an early age, he learned the value of hard work while traveling with his family to road construction sites across the Dakotas and Minnesota. As a teenager, he worked side by side with his father, operating construction equipment and helping build projects such as the Air Force Base in Duluth.
After attending North Park College in Chicago, Neil went on to earn his degree in Highway, Railroad, and Surveying from Dunwoody Institute in 1961, skills he carried proudly into his lifelong career in construction.
Neil married Beverly Johnson in 1961, and together they had three sons: Todd (Debbie), Kevin (Beth), and Barry (Wendy, deceased). In 1976, Neil married Susan Igelsrud, and together they welcomed two daughters through adoption, Meghann (John) and Molly. After Susan’s passing in 1998, Neil found companionship again and married Sheila Langston in 2000, embracing her two sons, Keith and Erik (Shanna), as part of his family.
Neil dedicated his career to several contractors in the Twin Cities and retired from Midwest Asphalt in 2006. His work extended far beyond construction. Neil was a man of strong, active faith. He joyfully served many churches over the years, helping build and maintain sanctuaries and facilities for congregations in Minnesota and Florida. His love of worship, inherited from his mother, the church pianist, shone through in his many years of choir singing and solo performances.
One of Neil’s greatest passions was downhill skiing. He loved sharing that joy with others, teaching elementary students through Blizzard Ski School for nine years, skiing the mountains of Colorado, and spending sixteen cherished winters at Big Sky, Montana with close friends.
Neil is survived by his wife, Sheila; his five children; eight grandsons - Joshua, Michael, Logan, Nolan, Dylan, Kellen, Ethan, and Eli; two granddaughters - Rayna and Laryssa; and seven great‑grandchildren - Henrik, McKinley, Leighton, Ophelia, Felix, Phinley, and Brennan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Eunice; his sister, Betty; his brother, Ron; his wife, Susan; and his stepson, Keith.
Neil experienced many ups and downs throughout his life, but his faith never wavered. He lived each day with humility, kindness, and trust in God’s promise.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
