Nancy Shaw

Where does one begin when a human has touched so many lives? Nancy Lee Shaw, age 75, passed away in her home on October 3, 2022 after her brief battle with cancer. Nancy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and exceptional Nana or Nunu depending on which set of grandkids you ask. Her family meant everything to her and she lived her life motivated by them.

Nancy was born to Owen and Shirley Sigler on May 16, 1947 in Cresco, Iowa. Growing up on a farm, she knew the definition of hard work from the beginning. After graduating from high school in Le Roy, Minnesota, Nancy continued her education and was later employed as a bank teller. Raising four children and working part-time was also no easy task, but somehow, she always found time to help others. She found great joy in serving others and volunteered countless hours at church starting with serving in the nursery, then coordinating the Sunday School program, singing in the choir, and finally serving on the funeral committee. In addition to serving others within the church, Nancy was always quick to lend a hand to those in need. Many a neighbor will attest to Nancy’s willingness to drop everything in order to help, whether that be providing a meal, transporting neighbors to various appointments, or simply offering a listening ear. People were drawn to Nancy’s tender heart.

Nancy leaves behind her husband Steve of 55 years, and their children, Kim (Darren) Shockey, Troy (Joy) Shaw, Corey (Heather) Shaw, and Abby (Jon) Brown; grandchildren, Caleb (Emma) Shockey, Rachel (Ashton) Segura, Kalel Rodriguez, Reagan Shockey, Catherine Shockey, Colton Shockey, Elektra Brown, Carson Shockey, Rebecca Shockey, Lilith Brown and Oswin Brown; and great-grandson, Jonathan Segura. She also leaves behind sibling, Gary (Linda) Sigler.

She was preceded in death by her father, Owen Sigler and mother, Shirley Sigler.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, Minnesota.  The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m., until the time of service at the funeral home.  Interment at Oak Park Cemetery, Columbus, Minnesota.
