Nancy Ann Heacox, age 84, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025.
Born in Plymouth, Wisconsin, Nancy was the elder of two children to Helen and John Ninnemann. She graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1959 and went on to earn her BA in English from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1964. It was during her final year of college that she met the love of her life, Curt Heacox, while spending time with friends at the Memorial Union. The two married less than a year later, on February 1, 1964, beginning a partnership that spanned more than six decades.
Together, Nancy and Curt raised three children—Chris, Sara, and Peter—while living in three different states (Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and Minnesota). After spending several years as a dedicated stay-at-home mom, Nancy began a long and impactful career in neuropsychological testing. Her work as a neuropsychometrist spanned 40 years at respected institutions including Regions Hospital, the University of Minnesota Hospital, and Hennepin County Medical Center.
Nancy was a woman of deep faith, dedicated to her home congregation at Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church, where she used her artistic gifts to reimagine and redecorate its interior spaces during a major renovation and expansion. Nancy was many things to many people: an avid grammarian, a brilliant conversationalist, a passionate sports fan, and a dedicated patron of the arts. She adored golf, jigsaw puzzles, needlework, reading, and time spent with her family. Known for her wit, her spirit, and her knack for “keeping ducks in a row,” Nancy was a force to be reckoned with—and cherished for it.
She is survived by her loving husband H. Curtis Heacox, Jr.; children Christopher Curtis John Heacox, Sara-Jane Heacox Sosa, and Peter Benjamin Heacox (Stacey); grandchildren Emma Kate and Matteo Aaron Sosa; Lillian Reese, Grace Ann, and Jackson Benjamin Heacox; and her brother John Aaron Ninnemann (Barbara).
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 25402 Itasca Ave, Forest Lake, MN 55025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon thereafter. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nancy’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of Nancy’s favorite organizations: Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
