Nancy A. Ensrud

Nancy A. Ensrud, age 88, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025.

Nancy was born on November 12, 1936, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She grew up as the only child to a strong single mother on the east side of Saint Paul and in North Saint Paul. She was a proud graduate of North Saint Paul High School.

In a blind date meeting during the annual Fourth of July festivities in Forest Lake , she met Donald Ensrud, whom she married on November 5, 1955. They were married at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in North Saint Paul and together they lived in Forest Lake and raised six children.

Nancy worked for many years as a secretary for the Forest Lake School District and later with the team at Edina Realty in Forest Lake. She was known for being a personable lady with a great sense of humor which she inherited from her Eggert family. She was appreciated for her professionalism and her warm presence to all she touched.

Nancy found joy in the simple pleasures of life - travel, cross-stitch, reading, music and dancing and then working on crossword puzzles and watching soap operas in the later years. She was a strong, independent, and practical woman who passed on those values to her children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald P. Ensrud; her mother Allene (Eggert) Nelson and step-father Oscar Nelson; son, Scott Ensrud; and son-in-law, Rodney Herdina.

Nancy is survived by her loving children: Susan Herdina, Steve (Sheri Pederson) Ensrud, Sandra (Clifford) Frandle, Sharon (Gary) Kosman, and Sheila (Joe) Biondo. She was a cherished grandmother to Ryan Peloquin, Steve (Samantha) Peloquin, Matthew (Jenny Wagner) Thorp, Brittney (Steve) Reinke, and Justin Erickson. She was a proud great-grandmother to Bentley Thorp, Royce Thorp, Madden Peloquin, and Beckham Peloquin. She is also survived by members of the extended Ensrud family who will miss her deeply.

Nancy’s legacy lives on in her family and in the lives she touched with her love, wisdom, and positive spirit.

A celebration of Nancy's life with be Friday, July 25 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Shoreside Bar and Grill, 55 S. Lake Street, Forest Lake, MN
