Michael James Ornberg, 67, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026, at Birchwood Healthcare Center in Forest Lake, Minnesota.

Michael was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to James and LinNea (Nygaard) Ornberg. He attended Blaine High School and graduated with the Class of 1977. During high school, Michael worked at Burger King and later spent a short time working at Strite-Anderson Die Casting.

On August 28, 1977, Michael began his career with Timesavers, Inc. Over the next 48 years, he built a remarkable career, retiring on August 27, 2025. He became the most requested Service Technician in the business, earning the respect and trust of customers throughout his many years of service. His work took him around the world, and he was often on the road or in the air for several weeks at a time. At one point, Michael had accumulated two million frequent-flyer miles. He was incredibly proud of his work and, most of all, of the lasting relationships he built with the customers who respected and appreciated him.

Michael’s happiest and most precious day was the arrival of his son, Shawn. Shawn was his fishing and hunting buddy, best friend, and goofball sidekick. He brought immense joy to Michael’s life, and their bond was deeply special.

Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing card games, but spending time with family and friends was what mattered most to him. He had a gift for fixing just about anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Michael will be remembered for his genuine heart, quick wit, storytelling, sense of humor, kindness, and generosity. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his son, Shawn (Megan); fiancé, Rhonda Adelman; sisters, Debra (John) Butler, Kristine Ornberg, and Karin (Steve) Ornberg; Rhonda’s children, Justin (Bria) and Elizabeth; nieces and nephews, Anna (Nathan), David (Megan), Amanda (Joshua), and Kaaren (Greg); ten great-nieces and great-nephews; Uncles, Paul, Richard (Judy), and Larry (Dianne); Aunties, Audrey and Doris; as well as many cousins, friends, and lifelong coworkers at Timesavers, Inc.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Arthur and Gudrun (Swedberg) Nygaard and Lloyd and Fannie (Ruter) Ornberg; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Memorial Service celebrating Michael’s life will be held at Nordland Lutheran Church, 18510 180th Avenue NE, Paynesville, Minnesota, on October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the church cemetery, with a luncheon to follow.
