Mary Kay Immel

February 15, 1958 – May 25, 2025

Mary Immel (LaMotte), age 67, of Forest Lake passed away peacefully at home on May 25th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous three-year battle with cancer.

She was born in St. Paul on February 15th, 1958, to Willam and Kathryn LaMotte. She spent her early years in White Bear Lake until the family moved to Hugo. She graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1976.

Mary had a passion for the simple joys in life – sitting at the beach, playing bingo, piano, painting, and treasure hunting at rummage sales and thrift stores, always on the lookout for a good deal or a unique antique. She expressed her love through cooking, often filling her home with delicious meals for friends and neighbors and bringing people together. She loved the gospel and believed God would provide for all her needs.

A devoted Elvis Presley fan, Mary loved music, dancing and attending performances by local bands. A loyal MN Vikings fan, she loved to show her MN Vikings pride every chance she had. She was always delighted to decorate or dress up for any holiday. Her favorite one of all though, was the 4th of July.

Mary is proceeded in death by her parents, William and Kathryn LaMotte.

She is survived by her children, Kristi Immel, Howard Immel, and Ryan Shattuck; grandchildren, Kiyra, Carissa, William, Madison, and Marissa; great-grandson Tatum; and her siblings, Cheryl (Keith) Kjelland, Lester (Vicky) LaMotte, and Albert (Peggy) LaMotte; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and her special friend, Lee Cottier who was her neighbor and brought her companionship for the last 18 years.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 8th, 2025, at Forest Hills Church, 1790 11th St SE, Forest Lake, MN 55025. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a service at 12:00 p.m., luncheon will immediately follow.
