Margaret Godt

January 30, 1945 — October 12, 2023

Wyoming, Minnesota formerly of Bloomington

Margaret Ann Godt, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on October 12, 2023, while surrounded by her family, at the age of 78. Born on January 30, 1945, in Duluth, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Avery and Ruth (Mattson) Conley.

Margaret's journey after high school began when she earned her Diploma from Mounds Midway School of Nursing in 1966. On July 3, 1971, Margaret married H.F. Werner Godt, at the Presbyterian Church in Wrenshall, Minnesota. Together, they embraced their call to the mission field landing them in Nassau, Bahamas. They continued their missionary work in the US Virgin Islands until 1980, working the Bethany Bookstore and connecting with people.

As a devoted mother, Margaret was blessed with two daughters, Anita Joy and Krista Elizabeth. Family meant everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent with her daughters and later her grandchildren, Emily, Alise, Luke, Natalie, Micah, Ben, Caleb, and Hannah. Margaret's love and joy were evident in the laughter and memories shared during their precious times together.

After returning to Minnesota in 1980, Margaret continued to work in bookkeeping/accounts at Bethany House Publishers for the next 23 years. She returned to nursing in 2003, working at Quello Clinic in Burnsville until retirement. Her kindness and warmth endeared her to her colleagues and patients alike.

Margaret's life was filled with a deep faith in Jesus, which upheld her during both the joys and sorrows she encountered. Her love for music, reading, games, puzzles, and fellowship at her church were sources of great joy and fulfillment in her life. Whether it was welcoming friends and family into her home or finding moments of quiet solace, Margaret embraced each day with a special sparkle.

In 2019, Margaret was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. In July 2021, Margaret and Werner relocated to Wyoming, Minnesota, to be closer to their family as they faced the challenges together. Margaret never lost her wit or genuine smile. Alzheimer’s robbed Margaret of everything she loved from meaningful conversations to playing puzzles and games, but it did not rob her of her people or her soul.

Margaret leaves behind a profound legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Werner, her daughters Anita (Dave) Ostercamp and Krista (Tim) Bailey, her cherished grandchildren, siblings, Catherine (Carl) Mattson, Tom (Sharon) Conley, Rita (Myron) Hendrickson, Mike (Ricki) Conley, David (Jan) Conley, Averill Loney, Chris (Carl) Stephenson, Steve (Lynn) Conley, Joel (Jayne) Conley, Matt Conley, brother-in-law, Bill Perkins and numerous nieces and nephews.
