Madeline Ann Marie Hinrichsen, affectionately known as Maddie, passed away unexpectedly at her home on September 19, 2026, leaving family, friends, and community members heartbroken by her sudden departure. Born on May 11, 1987, in Forest Lake, Minnesota, Maddie was the cherished daughter of David and Juanita Hinrichsen.
Maddie's vibrant personality and enthusiastic spirit made her a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew her. She grew up with a deep appreciation for history, politics, and Native American culture. Her passion for these subjects often led to spirited discussions and exploration, embodying her sassy and brave nature.
A proud graduate of Forest Lake Senior High, Maddie's educational journey was marked by her dedication to learning. Which could lead sometimes to a tenacious or challenging conversation. Her love for knowledge extended beyond books, manifesting in her zeal for television shows and very close group of friends. It was this time of year, premiere week when the television shows would start their new season.Maddie had a whiteboard in her room on the board. She listed all the shows she wanted to watch by the day of the week time and channel. She could never miss a show. She was notably thrilled about her opportunity to interview actor Kenny Jackson, an experience she held close to her heart.
Maddie was an avid attendee of the Great Minnesota Get-Together, where she particularly enjoyed visiting Andy's Cafe to watch "Grease Lightning." Her recognizable and infectious laugh could often be heard above the crowd, a testament to her joyous spirit and the happiness she brought to others.
Her professional life was a mosaic of creative projects, with a special interest in Native American research and military support. Maddie's commitment to these causes was a reflection of her deep compassion and desire to make a meaningful impact in the world. Maddie had recently started writing a book addressing sexual assault against women. It is unfortunate for us, she was unable to finish her book. Maddie was so proud she was writing a book about this topic. This is a complex topic, but she was willing to discuss it with anyone who was up for a discussion. Maddie had numerous jobs throughout her short life. However, she was happiest with any job involved taking care of children.
She is survived by her loving parents, David & Juanita Hinrichsen of Wyoming, MN; grandparents, Lester & Frances Zitzow of Stacy, MN; brothers, Ryan (Jaimelie) Hinrichsen Lino Lakes, MN, Joey Hinrichsen Lindstrom, MN; aunts & uncles, Diane Schell of Underwood, ND Dennis Hinrichsen (MIchelle) Wyoming, MN, Daniel Hinrichsen (Lindstrom, MN), Doug (Sue) Hinrichsen Aiken MN, Fred Schell Stacy, MN, Terry (Jessica) Zitzow North Branch, MN, Leslie (John) Bettcher Lino Lakes, MN, Denita ( Kelly) Roth Lincoln, ND; nieces & nephews, Aurora Hinrichsen Lino Lakes, MN, Dre Hinrichsen, MN, Croix Hinrichsen Lino Lakes, MN, Lunalie Hinrichsen Lino Lakes, MN. She was known for her wit, caring smile, and the ability to make others laugh. Maddie had a unique way of showing affection—if she picked on you, it was her way of expressing fondness and camaraderie.
