Lucas “Farmer” Beeksma, age 91 of Forest Lake, died September 3, 2008. Lucas was born to Onne and Sybil (Elzinga) Beeksma on November 9, 1916 in Herbster, Wisconsin. Lucas was a proud WWII Veteran, lifetime member of the Forest Lake VFW post 4210 and Forest Lake American Legion post 225 and 25+ year custodian in Forest Lake School District.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son, Fred. Survived by children, Ted (Mary), Verna (Richard) Haag, Lois (Vernon) Haag and Melanie Larson; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Crozier; many nieces, nephews & close neighbors and friends.
Funeral service 11 AM Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive. Visitation 4-8 PM Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment Scandinavian Cemetery.
