Leon Joseph Schmidt

Leon Joseph Schmidt, age 85, of Forest Lake, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and friends on November 27, 2025.

Leon enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He hunted deer, duck, and turkey, and cherished the many memories made in the woods and on the water.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorthy; brothers, Earl (Peggy) Schmidt and William Schmidt; sister, Gloria Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Jerry Long.

Leon is survived by his sister, Karen Long; sister-in-law, Joyce Schmidt; and nieces and nephews: Bill (Janice) Schmidt, Lori (Bill) House, Dan (Tina) Schmidt, Michelle (Bill) Hooper, Richard Long, Jennifer (Ron) Tyrrell, Julie (Trevor) Dahnke, Becky (Dick) Johnson, Jackie (Paul) Shanda, Vicky Kuntz, Angie Bialon, Joe (Carrie) Schmidt, Amy (Joe) Childers.

A Celebration of Leon's Life will be held 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, on Thursday, December 4th, 2025, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN 55025.
