Leo P. Frost

December 7, 1956 — November 7, 2025

North Branch

Leo Peter Frost, age 68, of North Branch, Minnesota, died on Friday, November 7, 2025.

Leo was born on December 7, 1956, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the beloved son of Lennea and Gail (Erickson) Frost. He grew up in Hugo, Minnesota, where he developed a love of the outdoors, a quick wit, and a knack for making others laugh. A proud graduate of Forest Lake High School, Class of 1975, Leo was always eager for adventure. After graduation, he spent time traveling across the United States—hitchhiking his way to California and collecting stories and friendships along the road.

In the mid-1980s, Leo decided it was time to put down roots. He met Sandra Simms, and the two were married on October 17, 1987. Together, they raised their three sons in Harris and North Branch, Minnesota, building a home filled with laughter, love, and plenty of good food.

Leo worked for more than 25 years with Walmart, where he became a familiar and friendly face to many in the Forest Lake community. From his early days in maintenance to his most recent role as a door greeter, Leo brought warmth, humor, and a kind word to everyone who passed through the store’s doors.

Outside of work, Leo found joy in the simple things—hunting, fishing, cooking, and baking. He was famous among family and friends for his meatloaf, baked chicken, potato salad, and banana bread. He never started a day without his coffee—his “lifeblood,” as he called it—and if it wasn’t coffee in his hand, it was a Classic Coke.

Leo loved old westerns and, in recent years, found a new favorite in NCIS. Watching episodes and chatting about them with his son, Scooter, became one of his favorite pastimes. Above all, Leo will be remembered for his big heart, his endless humor, and the way he could turn an ordinary moment into something to smile about.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Joseph Frost, Anita Betley, and Ruth Forsberg; and brothers-in-law, Steve Huard, Mike Seaver, Paul Betley, and Geoff Forsberg.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; sons, Scooter (Alyson) Frost, Bobby (Maisie) Frost, and Travis (Laura) Frost; and his cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Catherine, and Benjamin, who were truly the light of his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Beverly Jensen, Connie Huard, Naomi (Randy) Chinn, Denise Seaver, Richard Frost, Janelle Frost-Harris, Christine (Mark) Muellner, and Patrick (Becky) Frost; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Hugo, Minnesota.

Leo’s laughter, stories, and generous spirit will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
