Karen “Cindy” was born October 1, 1939 in Robbinsdale, MN to Roy and Helen Bayard. Karen had a deep love for traveling throughout her entire life. As a child she and her parents took many extended trips out west and her love for travel continued with her Across Country Tours family up until her passing. Across Country Tours allowed Karen to explore many great areas of the country and enjoyed winters in Panama City, FL.

Many of her friends and family know her as “Cindy”, which she was fondly given by her schoolmates when she played the part of Cinderella in a school play. As a young girl Karen spent summers at their family cabin on Coon Lake; which is where she would meet her husband Robert "Bob" Beckman. When she was not at the cabin during the summer months, she would ride her trusted horse Patches from Robbinsdale, MN to Cedar, MN to visit Bob. On May 18, 1957 Karen married Bob Beckman and shortly thereafter they would start their family with Bart Alan, then Lisa Marie, and Tammie Lynn. They spent time in Oklahoma while Bob was enlisted in the Army and developed wonderful friendships with others in the Army and created annual reunions up until Bob’s passing in 2017.

Karen’s primary job was a wonderful homemaker, wife, and mom; however, she also took on many other jobs outside the home, such as secretary, bartender, waitress, and various others. As a mom there was never a shortage of weekend camping trips – whether it was summer or winter, and always a weeklong great adventure during summer vacation.

There were so many other things that Karen wanted to do in life – she had so many adventures still within her, but God needed another angel and she joined Bob in heaven for their 64th wedding anniversary on May 18th.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Helen (McGregor) Bayard; husband, Robert; granddaughter, Laura Beckman. She is survived by her children, Bart (Terry) Beckman, Lisa (Michael) Sowers, Tammie (Thomas) Lukkonen; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; other family and friends.
