Jon Bellgowan

Jon A. Bellgowan, 78, of Lindstrom, Minnesota, died suddenly on May 20, 2018, with his loving wife of 56 years, Mary, by his side.  Jon was born on April 2, 1940 in Lansing, Michigan. On November 4, 1961, he married Mary Heinowski and together they raised 5 children. Through their unconditional love and infinite patience, they provided their children with a strong foundation from which the children were able to build wonderful lives and follow their dreams.

Jon is survived by his wife Mary, his daughters Diana Bellgowan (Charlie Wallin) of Asheville, North Carolina; Beth Raarup (Mike) of Wyoming Minnesota; Linda Peruzzi (Greg) of Walpole, New Hampshire; and Cheryl May (John) of LeClair, Iowa; and his son Patrick Frost Bellgowan (Julie) of Silver Spring, Maryland.  Jon also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Rennie Wallin, Kayla Raarup, Tyler Raarup, Sean Bellgowan, Alex Bellgowan, Liam Bellgowan, Lauren May, and Mackenzie May.  He is also survived by his brother, Terry Bellgowan, and his sister, Jean Dodson, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.  Jon will join his cherished grandson, Kyle Raarup, in heaven.  He is also preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.

Jon received a Bachelor’s Degree at Michigan State University and an MBA at Central Michigan University.  Jon valued his career as a manager of various rural electric cooperatives and developed the infrastructure to bring electricity to remote areas of the Philippine Islands.  Jon loved to travel, spend time with his family, and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and reading.  He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Jon’s wife and children will hold a private celebration of life service in July.  Memorials may be made to the Concussion Legacy Foundation at: concussionfoundation.org in order to honor Jon’s grandson, Kyle Raarup, and the special relationship they shared.
