John A. Wilberg, age 94, of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025.
John was a proud United States Army veteran who carried his sense of duty, loyalty, and quiet strength throughout his life. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures and cherished traditions, especially the annual Family Weekend trip to Duluth where the Monopoly game tournament took place for the traveling Christmas ornament, in addition to making homemade ice cream. He also loved the Minnesota State Fair and attended that every year! A dedicated gardener, John, took great pride in his garden, tending it with care and attention that reflected his love of home and nature. He also had a great love for animals, especially for his cat Abby who brought him so much love and joy.
John was especially well known for his enthusiasm for Lutefisk. He truly loved it and eagerly anticipated annual Lutefisk dinners, a tradition that brought him great happiness and connection to his heritage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Edith (Jacobson) Wilberg; his beloved wife, Mary Wilberg; siblings, Lorna Sanders, Marge Hauge, and Joanne Wilberg; and his brother-in-law, Jim Hauge.
John is survived by his devoted daughters, Barb (Greg) Anderson and Karen (Mike) Marchetti; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Paul Sanders; sister-in-law Vernice Jury, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will remember him with love and gratitude.
