Joan Arndt

Age 81, of Hugo, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 2, 1943, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, to Glen and Adelia Engeretson.

Joan graduated from Mankato State University with a degree in education and went on to work as an elementary school teacher, where she touched the lives of many young students with her patience, kindness, and dedication to learning.

She was a woman of strong faith and lived a life of service and devotion to others. She was deeply involved with her church community and served as a devoted Girl Scout troop leader, guiding and inspiring countless young girls over the years.

She had many talents and hobbies that brought joy to her life and those around her. Joan enjoyed sewing, candle wicking, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. In her younger years, she shared adventures with her husband, Jim, assisting in water ski stunts and building lifelong memories together.

One of her greatest joys was the cabin she and Jim purchased on Girl Lake in Longville, Minnesota. It became the heart of family gatherings, a place of peace, laughter, and treasured traditions. After retiring, Joan especially loved spending summers there, surrounded by nature and the people she loved most.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim; parents, Glen and Adelia; sisters, Verlyce (Milford) Dummer, Ruth (Floyd “Cork”) Vincent; nephew, Steven Vincent.

She is survived by her children, Kristine (Dewey) Cyr, Susan Hagen, and Jeffrey (Amanda); grandchildren, Cory (Elizabeth), Jacob (Jodi), Orval, Martin, Julia, and Addison; great-grandchildren, Levi and Bentley; sisters, Karen (Jerome) Burdorf, Mary (Kevin) Anderson; nieces, Julie Doyle, Teri Myhran, Nancy Hall, Jennifer Heiling, Jean (Dan) Moreno, Lisa (Zach) Hegman; nephews, Chuck (Susi) Vincent, David (Sandy) Dummer, Tom (Becky) Burdorf, Blake Anderson; along with many dear friends and extended family.

A visitation will begin at 10 AM, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at New Life Lutheran Church, 6000 North 148th Street, Hugo. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM at the church.
