James "Jim" Arndt
Age 86, of Hugo, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025. He was born on February 28, 1939, in Glasgow, Montana, to Jacob and Clara Arndt.
Jim had a deep love for the outdoors and was a passionate skier, enjoying both waterskiing and downhill skiing. He even competed in the 3-event waterskiing competitions. In 1966, Jim and Joan purchased a cabin on Girl Lake in Longville, Minnesota, where they created many cherished memories with family and friends over the years. After retiring, Jim spent his summers there, enjoying the lake, pontoon, and the peaceful surroundings.
A devoted sports enthusiast, Jim was an avid hockey player in his younger years and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He hunted pheasants and ducks with his brothers. In addition to his outdoor passions, Jim had a creative side and spent hours crafting an intricate model train village in his basement.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jacob and Robert, nephew Terry, and niece Lonnie Halgunseth. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; children, Kristine (Dewey) Cyr, Susan Hagen, and Jeffrey (Amanda); grandchildren, Cory (Elizabeth), Jacob (Jodi), Orval, Martin, Julia, and Addison; great-grandchildren, Levi and Bentley; nieces, Janice and Melanie; nephews, Richard and Gary; along with many other family members and dear friends.
A visitation will be begin at 10 AM, on Thursday, May 8th, 2025, at New Life Lutheran Church, 6000 North 148th Street, Hugo. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM at the church.
Jim’s warmth, humor, and love for his family will be deeply missed.
