Irma I. Dahl

June 25, 1937 — May 25, 2023

Wyoming

On Thursday, May 25, 2023, Irma Ilene Dahl (Clifford) of Wyoming, MN, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 85.  Born June 25, 1937 to Danna and Catherine Clifford, Irma graduated from Glenwood City High School in Glenwood City, WI in 1955 and immediately married Donald Dahl.  Irma and Donald moved a couple of times in their young married life before settling in Wyoming, MN on Coon Lake where they jointly raised their family of four children.  Irma remained in her Coon Lake home, The Dahl House, until she passed away.

Throughout her 85 years with us, Irma gave so much… her warmth and personality ensured she was never alone.  She welcomed anyone and everyone to The Dahl House, and after spending any amount of time with her you felt valued and loved.  She made family a priority throughout her life, always being there when help, compassion, or company was needed.  Irma welcomed any opportunity to bring family and friends together, organizing class and family reunions, and opening The Dahl House on the 4th of July for a day of celebration, conversation, food, and fun.  Each year’s attendance was higher than the last, as previous guests brought more guests who were warmly welcomed by Irma.  She was an avid MN State Fair attendee (attending every one of the 12 days!) prioritizing the horse shows, the daily parade, and people watching.  And if you were at the Fair you could count on her joining you for your beverage of choice while getting caught up and exchanging fair experiences.

Along with spending time with family and friends, Irma loved cooking and baking for others (and they loved her cooking and baking), thrifting, gardening, and embroidery.  Many of her loved ones were blessed with sets of towels made by her loving hand and warm heart.  She was never far away from her cell phone, answering every call that came her way and initiating many calls where others could feel her energy and walk away with a smile.  As Irma progressed through life and survived the loss of loved ones along the way, she focused on the blessings in her life and constantly expressed her gratitude for the love of so many people.

Finally, and as she always wanted to be remembered, she made us laugh.

Irma is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; her son, Louis, and her daughter, Melody.   Along with her many family members and large circle of friends, Irma will be deeply missed by her daughters, Catherine Moran (Chris) and Jennifer Dahl; her daughter-in-law, Diane Dahl; her grandchildren, Dane Dahl, Leigh Dahl (Paul Schmitt), Jacob Dering, and Alexandra Dering, and her great-grandchildren, Hailey, Dylan, Blake, Caleb, Aiden, and Harper.

The family will greet friends at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 9, 2023 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 19001 Jackson Street NE, East Bethel, MN 55011.  Lunch will be served after the service and Irma will be interred at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church Cemetery 2200 Swedish Drive NE, Ham Lake MN, 55304 at 1:30 p.m.
