Helen R. (nee Krech) (Dickey) Broich, age 77, of Chisago City, Minnesota, passed away in her sleep on December 1, 2023. She was born on October 5, 1946, to Elmer and June Krech and leaves behind a legacy that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Throughout her life, Helen demonstrated extraordinary dedication and commitment to various organizations, serving as the Auxiliary/District/Department President Forest Lake VFW 4210 President, 7th Dist. Pres and the National 21 Council. Her passion for supporting veterans and their families was unparalleled. Her tireless efforts and selfless service in this role will always be remembered and celebrated.
Helen had a zest for life and a diverse range of interests. A skilled bowler, she spent countless hours at the alley, enjoying the camaraderie of fellow bowlers. Her intellectual curiosity and exceptional intelligence led her to be a proud member of MENSA. Helen also loved fishing and getting outdoors.
Family meant everything to Helen. She found joy in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, finding delight in the presence of her youngest family members.
Music provided Helen with a soundtrack for life. From the enchanting melodies of Michael Bublé to the iconic tunes of Prince, her passion for music spanned across different genres. A particular fondness for the bagpipes and Christmas music brought warmth and joy to her holidays, as she reveled in the festive melodies that brought loved ones together.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Edward Dickey; second husband, Dale Broich; brothers, Ron, Roger, Jerry, Elmer, Tom, Steven, John; sister, Jan; step-son, Patrick; granddaughter, Amanda.
She is survived by, children, Michelle Soule, Mike Dickey, Kathleen Dyer; step-children, Barbara Dixon, Charlene Kester, Donald Dickey, Joanne Riehle; grandchildren, Justin, Jason, Tianna, Kaela, Lainey, Brittany, Nicole, Jess, Jared, Hayley, Darrel Ray, Chris, April, Steve “BeeBer”, Samantha, Aaron, Jennifer, Jannine, Patty, Todd, Troy, Shelby, Noelle; 39 great grandchildren; siblings, Star, Laura, Becky, Roberta, Jim, Harry; beloved dog, Kilo; many nieces & nephews, other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN. Family will be greeting friends 10-11:30 prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made out to Northwoods Humane Society, 7153 Lake Blvd, Wyoming, MN 55092.
