Gregory "Shorty" Dean Henderson Sr.
Age 75, of Alexandria, MN, passed away unexpectedly June 7, 2022.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, MerriLee; sons, Greg Jr (Chelsie), Geoff (Amy); grandchildren, Sophie, Grady, Svea, Shaina, and Nora; and brother, Joel (Jane).
Greg was a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College where he majored in Business. He owned a petroleum company, Zahl Equipment, along with his brother and father. In later years he owned Cedarbriar Enterprises and drove for Shaw Trucking, Rivard Companies, and Mark Lee Excavating. Greg was a member of the East Bethel Fire Department for 22 years, serving as Chief for part of his tenure. He retired to the lake in Alexandria, MN in 2011. He and his wife spent their winters in their Green Valley, AZ home for 15 years. Greg loved his grandchildren, fishing, NASCAR races, traveling, the outdoors, and going to dog shows with Merri. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at 2 PM on Friday, June 17th, 2022, at Mattson Funeral home in Forest Lake, MN. Family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Revive Church in Forest Lake, MN
