It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Jean Hansen, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend who touched the hearts of all who knew her. Born on August 20, 1939, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Gloria lived a life filled with love, joy, and compassion.  On February 19, 2024, Gloria peacefully departed this world, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy.

Gloria's talents knew no bounds; she dedicated over two decades of her life as a compassionate healthcare professional at Birchwood in Forest Lake. Later, she seamlessly transitioned careers, delving into the realms of real estate and mastering the art of web design.

Gloria leaves behind a life well-lived with diverse passions. She possessed a creative spirit, finding joy in painting and crocheting. She was playful, dominating the game of pool, conquering Zelda, and spending time playing casino games on the computer. She was gracious, volunteering much of her time at the Helping Hand. She embraced the thrill of casino trips with friends and family alike. She was a connoisseur of music, not only attending country concerts but also with her own rendition during karaoke on occasion.  Her eyes would light up at musical talents of her son Dan. She was an expert at showering love on her grandchildren and rejoicing in the milestones of great-grandchildren.

Gloria was a pillar of strength, courageously facing and triumphing over numerous challenges in her 84 years. Her heart overflowed with love and care, especially for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished with a passion that knew no bounds. Whether offering a comforting hug, imparting words of wisdom, or yelling at them to get out of the apple tree, she created a legacy of warmth and support. She found immense joy in witnessing the unique qualities that defined each of them, celebrating their achievements and comforting them during life's challenges. In the hearts of her grandchildren, she lives on in their cherished memories. From the warmth of their first sips of coffee, to the shared laughter during late-night sessions watching Johnny Carson. The sweet indulgence of Nut Goodies and sweet treats always on hand and ready to be share. Graciously sharing pieces from her cherished jewelry collection. The cautionary shouts to refrain from climbing the apple tree in the front yard, to the timeless echoes of the song G.L.O.R.I.A.

Throughout her many years, and especially in her last chapter her children were the light of her life. Dan's unwavering visits spoke volumes of familial devotion, creating cherished moments that will forever echo in the corridors of memory. Gloria found immeasurable joy in the profound connection with her beloved daughter, Debbie. Whether engaged in long, meaningful phone conversations or sharing the tender moments of daily life, their bond was a testament to the enduring power of a mother-daughter relationship.  Darla, her cherished daughter, adorned each moment with an abundance of kindness, unwavering compassion, and love. In Gloria’s last weeks, Darla's support became a pillar of strength, a testament to the profound impact Gloria had on those fortunate enough to be part of her life. Dixie, a devoted daughter of Gloria, provided a haven of warmth and familial embrace, creating a sanctuary where her mother found solace in the comforting and steadfast presence they shared. In the gentle embrace of their home, Gloria discovered not only refuge but also a deep sense of enduring connection that defined the essence of their mother-daughter relationship.

In her passing, Gloria reunites with her beloved parents, Marlow and Josephine, and her sisters, Patricia Nielsen and Beverly Gates. She is survived by her loving children, Dan (Jeanette DuBay) Birdsall, Debbie (Dave) Lund, Darla (Pat McGuire) Dahl, and Dixie Olson, as well as ten adoring grandchildren, Erick (Amy), Shawn (April), Senna (Joe), Taylor (Josh), Jason (Brooke), Justin (Leah), Travis (Sadie),  Brandon (Angie), Koral (Leo), Tia (Jayson); great grandchildren, Layla, Logan, Skylar, Ashton, Shayd, Madi, Alli, Addi, Raevyn, Nate, Brody, Myla, Otto, Tula, Gage, Devin, Tyra, Hunter, Rylnn, Lacie, Hardin, Lexia, Lincoln, Lupita, Cayden, Slayde, Layne and siblings, Marilyn Kastner, Marlow (Bette) Geyer Jr., and Mary Geyer.

A celebration to honor Gloria's life will be held in the near future, allowing family and friends to come together, share stories, and celebrate a remarkable woman whose presence will be deeply missed. In remembrance of Gloria, may we find comfort in the cherished memories she leaves behind, forever holding her close in our hearts.
