Douglas "Doug" Schliesing, age 86, of Forest Lake, MN, passed onto Jesus on March 25, 2022.
Doug’s career was spent working in Store Management, planning new Crown Auto stores, and Griggs Contracting.
He loved nature and the outdoors. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, bird watching, and spending time at the cabin. He enjoyed cars, and was a member of the Torquers Car Club.
Doug was very skilled at wood carving, and could build and design almost anything. He enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, and had thousands of CDs and vinyls.
He was blessed with a large and wonderful family. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joan; daughters, Chris (Greg) Knopff, Julie, Racheal (Mark) Amundson, Elaine, and Robin (Tom) Bergum. Doug had 12 granddaughters, Melissa (Jeff) Coons, Katie (Ryan) Kirk, Stephanie (PJ) O’Keefe, Kirsten Knopff, Maggie (Donald) Christensen, Heidi (Steve) Pieri, Maria (Ian) Rice, Lucy (Dave) Kelly, Emily (Tony) Walker, Sara (Javi) Amundson, Samantha Bergum, and Brooke Bergum; 1 grandson, Bradley Bergum; and 10 great grandchildren, Olivia Oferosky, Camren Oferosky, Macy Pieri, Adalynn Boettcher, Nash Pieri, Clara Coons, Mackenzie Kirk, Owen Boettcher, Charlie Rice, and Lincoln Graves.
Doug also always had at least one canine companion around, most recently his sweet dog Ella. He was quick with a joke, and constantly made people around him smile. He will be greatly missed by everyone in his life.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Family will be greeting friends from 10 to 11 prior to the service at the church.
