Derec McKinney, Waaseyaa Ajiijak (Shining Crane)

Derec Joshua McKinney, age 32, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, passed away on March 26, 2022.

Derec was a very caring person who had a big heart.  He was very artistic and loved to draw.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Ruth Ellen McKinney, Fenton and Pauline VanWert.  Survived by mother, Shannon Mielke (John); father, Jason VanWert; half-brother, Joshua Torgusson; grandfather, Lloyd McKinney; uncles, Shawn (Heidi) McKinney, Fenton VanWert Jr., Dean VanWert, James VanWert; aunt, Monica VanWert; cousins, Alexis McKinney, Allie McKinney, Sarah Andersen, and many other cousins, family members, and friends.

A Visitation will be held 5-7 PM, on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Dr., Forest Lake, MN.
