David L. "Herbie" Herber, age 63, of Big Marine Lake, Minnesota. Retired UAW Auto Worker after 43 years of service and former co-owner of Big Marine Lake Store. Born 7/29/58. Died peacefully on 12/22/21. Preceded in death by father, Francis & grandparents. David was the oldest child born to Francis and Darlene Herber. He grew up in Maplewood, MN where he was a Tartan graduate, Class of 1976. He played hockey for Tartan and continued to be on different teams throughout his life. One of David's childhood dreams was to live on the lake, but not just any lake, it had to be Big Marine where he and his family spent many summers at his grandparents cabin. David made this dream come true by living most of his adult life on the lake. You could always be guaranteed a boat ride or tour of the lake when visiting. For David, the faster the boat the better. He loved the beauty of the lake and all the friends he made there. David was a very religious man giving his life to God. He often attended church on both Saturdays night and Sundays. This always filled his heart with joy. He lived his life for others, always putting others before himself. He was the life of the party with always a story to tell. He was usually the first to show up and the last to leave. David loved his family. He took great pride in his favorite title as "Dad". He loved, adored and was so proud of his children, Courtney and Logan. Since his father's passing he took on the role as the patriarch of the family always watching out for his mother and family. David loved music and dancing. He loved going to see Austin Healy among other bands. He loved to play cards, cribbage and dice, something that was done at every family function. David will greatly missed by children, Courtney (Kris) Shelander and Logan; mother, Darlene; siblings, Barb, Greg and Dawn (Ron) Lindborg; nieces, Shelby & Madison; nephews, Zachery, Brayden, & Ayvan; great nieces, Charleigh, Aubri & Bexli; God Parents, Bill & Pauline Herber, extended family & friends.
