Darlene Joyce Homan

From Scandia, Minnesota and Chisago City, Minnesota formerly Neenah, Wisconsin.

Darlene Homan was born October 20, 1931 in Marshfield, WI. She passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026 due to complications from Alzheimer's.

Darlene grew up in Neenah, Wisconsin and graduated from Neenah High School. Darlene married Robert “Bob” A. Homan on April 5, 1951, in Dubuque, Iowa. Darlene and Bob were married for 62 years before he passed away June 12, 2013. Darlene and Bob had two children, Jennifer Homan (Donald Mishler) Scandia, Minnesota and Jeffrey (Susan) Homan, Woodruff, Wisconsin, two granddaughters, Alexandra Homan (Dan), Heber City, Utah and Jessica Wergin (Matt) Woodruff, Wisconsin and two great granddaughters, June Wergin and Jemma Wergin.

Darlene had many nieces and nephews but we would like to mention her closeness with her nieces, Pam Rohm, Candy and husband Tom Becker. Darlene is the last of six children raised by her parents Walter and Amy Schuette from Neenah, Wisconsin. Darlene lived in Neenah for 86 years before moving to Scandia, Minnesota along with her dog Gomer to live with Jenny. There she enjoyed countless hours watching all the wildlife the backyard could provide. Darlene was a sports fanatic. She loved the Neenah Rockets, Brewers, Bucks, and of course the Packers. She would rather watch any sports on TV than anything else. She knit caps for babies at local hospitals. She was a quilter working with her churches in Neenah and Scandia to provide quilts for the needy. Darlene and Bob were avid snowmobilers. Darlene served as secretary/treasurer of the Wisconsin Snowmobile Association in the 70's. Darlene speared a record sturgeon from Lake Winnebago in 1985.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration interviewed Darlene and Bob in 2007 regarding her sturgeon. She was also interviewed by Sports Illustrated. Darlene and Bob were members of Sturgeon for tomorrow.

Darlene spent almost three years at Parmly On The Lake Assisted Living Facility. She enjoyed playing bingo and winning candy bars. We would like to thank the staff who helped her when needed and enjoyed her company. Special thanks to Barb, Lizzy, Megan, and Carol.

There will be a private service for family in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donation to the animal rescue of choice.
