Darlene A. Greer

Darlene A. Greer, age 81, of Chisago City, Minnesota, died on Monday, May 26, 2025.

Darlene was born on June 13, 1943, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and was adopted by Henry and Barbara (Wiome) Brodtmann. She graduated from Saint Bernard High School and later pursued studies in office administration. In 1963, she married the love of her life, Gary Greer. Together they made their home in Shoreview, Minnesota, where they raised their family. In their retirement years, Darlene and Gary settled in Chisago City.

Darlene had a deep appreciation for nature. She found joy in tending to her garden and spent many peaceful hours watching birds visit her feeders—especially delighted by the sight of cardinals, finches, and indigo buntings. She also enjoyed welcoming deer and wild turkeys to her yard.

A passionate follower of politics, Darlene was never one to shy away from a good discussion. Her love for civic engagement and spirited conversation was well known among her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary; her son, Robert; grandson, Zach; son-in-law, Patrick McKay; her parents, Henry and Barbara; and siblings, Ronald, Donald, and Ardelle Brodtmann.

Darlene is survived by her daughters, Susan McKay and Danielle Greer; daughter-in-law, Amy Greer; grandchildren, Amanda Greer, David Johnson, Justin Pavek, Robbie Greer, Alex Greer, and Sean Greer; great-grandchildren, Haydn Greer, Jayden Greer, and Tegan Greer; as well as other family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Darlene's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
