formerly of Forest Lake

Charles Donald Kopp, Sr., age 89, of Sun City West, Arizona; formerly of Forest Lake, Minnesota, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Throughout his life, Charles was known for his soft heart, unwavering work ethic, honesty, and trustworthiness. He leaves behind a legacy built on love, dedication, and the simple joys of family and home.

Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, Charles graduated from North Saint Paul High School. Soon after graduation, he began the journey that would define much of his life—building a family. Charles married the love of his life, Sharon, on August 31, 1957, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Their love story began on a blind date and blossomed into a marriage that spanned nearly seven decades.

Charles spent his working years in construction before becoming a machinist, a career that reflected his hardworking nature and ability to create and build with his hands. He took great pride in providing for his family and earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.

Outside of work, Charles enjoyed investing, taking walks, tending to his garden, fishing, and reading. He appreciated life's quieter moments and found happiness in simple pleasures. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or spending time with those he loved, Charles's gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Violet (Berg) Kopp; beloved sons, Charles Donald Kopp Jr. and Bradley John Kopp; daughter-in-law, Marcee Kopp; his brother, Roger Kopp; and his sisters, Susan "Susie" and Dorothy "Cookie."

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Kopp; his children, Cheryl (Randy) Jones, Kelly (Jim) Hoff, Brian Kopp, Shawn Kopp (Tim), Jamie (Joe) Cook, and Vickie (Tom) King; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and his lovable pup, Precious; siblings, Jack Kopp, June Jennings, Jerry Kopp. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory and the example he set through a life well lived.

Charles will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and deep love for his family. His steady presence, generous heart, and quiet strength will be greatly missed but forever treasured by those whose lives he touched.
