Annette D. Hegler, beloved mother and grandmother died peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in Forest Lake, Minnesota.
Born December 31,1947, Annette is the daughter of Thomas J and Lucille Ersfeld. After graduating from Forest Lake High School in 1965, Annette earned a bachelor's degree from Clarke College, Dubuque, Iowa in 1969. Later, she obtained a Master’s degree in Methodology for Language Learning from the University of Minnesota. A lifelong educator, Annette taught French and English at Southwest Junior High School in Forest Lake for 33 years.
Besides being a classroom language and language arts teacher, Annette arranged for and hosted exchange students. She was a skilled tour guide, planning and accompanying numerous students for trips to Quebec and France. Annette also planned and led memorable trips to Europe for fellow teachers, friends and family. In retirement, she became active as a tutor with the Jesuit Ignatian Volunteer program. Always looking for new recipes, Annette was known for serving meals that delighted family and friends, favoring French cuisine when possible.
She is preceded in death by parents, Thomas J. and Lucille Ersfeld; son, Marc Hegler.
Survived by daughter, Therese (Noel) Molloy; grandchildren, Cormac and Saorise Molloy;
brothers, Thomas P. (Patricia) Ersfeld, Joseph (Dana) Ersfeld; sisters, Mary (William) Keilty, Sister Jean Ersfeld, SSND, Kathleen (Allen) Robinson, Rita (Robert), Norton, many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Church of Saint Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake, MN with visitation one hour prior to the Mass in the church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Forest Lake. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
