This is my favorite, most recent photo of my dad and I. (I think it’s one of my niece’s weddings) He was still himself, vibrant, energetic, dreamer and astoundingly resourceful, thought provoking, intelligent, beautiful human. Dad finally let go of this earthbound journey last night, Saturday, July 25, 2020. He was able to be in the comfort of his own home thanks to the grace and caring of my sweet brothers and their families. He taught me at a tender age to look to the stars in the night skies and see not only the constant constellations but the paths and vibrancy a shooting star can make in a night sky. He taught me to be resourceful and resilient and most of all to have gratitude for the small things that love, life and family brings us. He held in a lot of his emotion and pain as a true stoic Norwegian does…but he felt and loved deeply as his seven children, 18+grandchildren and too many to mention great grand kids would tell you. I will look to the stars at night papa…laying in the grass, filled with the gift of wonder and forever feel you by my side…give my mama a hug for me…for I know after 60+ years together that is surely where you are.
