Alan F. Weaver

January 18, 1943 — March 30, 2024

Forest Lake

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan "Al" Francis Weaver, a beloved husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He peacefully departed on March 30, 2024, at the age of 81 in Forest Lake, Minnesota. Born in Saint Paul, Minnesota on January 18, 1943, Al was the son of Clyde and Angela Weaver.

Having graduated from Central High School in 1962, Al bravely served his country in the United States Army before returning home to marry the love of his life, Mary Adams, on November 19, 1966, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Maplewood, Minnesota.

Al's passion for welding led him to a successful career with Shetka Iron and American Structural Company after obtaining his welding certification from Dunwoody College. In 1990, Al's dream of lakeside living came true when he and Mary settled along the picturesque shores of Forest Lake. There, he indulged in his love for fishing, cherished hosting annual Fourth of July celebrations, and reveled in the beauty of watching the sunrise and set over the tranquil waters.

Al had a deep appreciation for his country, demonstrated through his love for studying American history, particularly World War II. His eclectic tastes included playing the drums, listening to jazz and polka music, and enjoying classic car shows, with the Back to the 50's show being a highlight every summer.  He was a local union member on the Local Musicians Union 225 in the Twin Cities and played exclusively on weekends with the Harbor Lighters for several years.

Al is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Darren Hampton.  He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Mary; children, Sandee (Dan) Conlin, Nancy Hampton, Jill (Craig) Hinze; grandchildren, Averyel, Monique, Yvette, Sophia, Grant, Linsie, Billy, Connor, Carter; great grandchildren, Summer, Charlotte, Zara; brother-in-law, John (Liz) Adams; sisters-in-law, Ann (Russ) Lilke, Jean (Mac) Meade; other family and dear friends.

His journey may have ended, but his legacy of love, laughter, and passion will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Al’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the VA Medical Health Care doctors and Saint Croix Hospice for their guidance and support during his journey.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake, Minnesota.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.   Interment at Faith Lutheran Church Prayer Garden.   Let us gather to honor and remember this remarkable man who brought light and joy to all those around him.
