Warren Benoy

Warren Benoy, Age 87 of Forest Lake. Warren was born October 8, 1924 to Roscoe and Pearl Benoy in St. Paul, Minnesota. His parents moved to Forest Lake from St. Paul in 1925 with Warren when he was less than one year old and he lived here ever since, except for 30 months during World War II when he was in the Army Air Corps as a pilot. His B-24 crew was prepared to go overseas when the war ended. After the war, he studied at the University of Minnesota where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1952 he and his brother Russell started a construction business (Benoy Brothers Construction Co. Inc), where they built and remodeled many homes as well as several banks, churches, schools, and commercial buildings in the area until they retired in 1989. Warren was director of Greater Forest Lake Association (Chamber of Commerce)in 1957 and 1958. Starting in 1960 he became a Forest Lake Village Councilman. He was a member of the board of directors at Forest Hills Golf Club 1966-1968. He married Eloise Engler (she was also a native of Forest Lake) who was a devoted wife for 60 years. They have four children, Dwight (Pat), Monte, Karen, and Brian (Deb); nine grandchildren, Ross, Cody, Samantha, Cole, Sarah, Justin, Derek, Laura, and Ryan; two great-grandsons, Elliott and Liam. He also leaves behind brothers, Russell (Corrine) and David (JoAnne). Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation 5-8 p.m., Thursday at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake and 10-11 a.m., Friday at the church. Interment at Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Faith Lutheran Endowment Fund.
