Sharon Hill

Sharon Hill was born June 9, 1940, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Adolph and Laura (Fiebing) Flink. She graduated from Mounds View Senior High School in 1958. On Halloween Day of that same year she married Harry Hill, much to Harry's brother Terry's dislike. As much as Terry loved Sharon, the wedding on Halloween Day, cut into his time to trick or treat! He was happy to go to the wedding ceremony, as long as he did not have to go to the reception. Over the years, Sharon and Harry's family expanded to six. Dale was their first child followed by Cheryl a year later. Misty and Jennifer came later in their lives. In addition to their children, the grandchildren Stephanie, Crystal and Isabelle held a special place in her heart. She will be dearly missed by all the family including her three brothers Donald Flink, Bill Flink and Jim Flink; and many cherished nieces and nephews on both sides. In her spare time, Sharon liked to keep busy with arts and crafts, including sewing, quilting, making jewelry, and needlepoint. This passion allowed her to own her own craft store for a short time. When she was not crafting, she enjoyed traveling. Some of her favorite trips, included visits to Puerto Rico, Germany, Austria, Hawaii, multiple cruises (including a relaxing solo trip for her 50th birthday), including a family Disney cruise and staying at their home in Arizona. While staying in Arizona, Sharon and Harry began their collection of rocks and fossils from the deserts in Arizona and New Mexico. Her loving heart led her to volunteer at the Northwoods Humane Society for many years. She was always a dog person and found time to give each sheltered dog a few extra hugs to let them know they were loved. Once such dog came home to be a part of the Hill family, Barney. Sharon struggled for many years with physical challenges but responded with a loving and generous heart. Her kindness and generosity will never be forgotten! A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m., until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Northwoods Humane Society, 7153 Lake Blvd, Wyoming, Minnesota 55092.
