Ormund Ainslie Kravik (Kremo) passed away on June 7, 2009 surrounded by his family. He was born December 5, 1914 in Madison, Minnesota. Ormund was preceded in death by his parents Ole and Elizabeth Kravik, sisters Bernice Beeson (Robert) and Lenore Thoney (Matt) and brothers Kenneth (Agnes) and Gordon. He is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Eleanore, his children Linda Kay Smith (Michael), Forest Lake, Minnesota, Kathryn Louise Just (James) Breckenridge, Colorado, Kathleen Lois Kravik (Russ), Stockton Springs, Maine and Mark Ainslie Kravik (Deborah), Osceola, Wisconsin and brother Reuben (Isabelle), Mesa, Arizona. Ormund is also survived by grandchildren Terry Tschida (Lisa), Ann Marie Tschida, Nathan Reed Smith, Christopher Just (Molly), Travis Just (Kara), Charles Ainslie Kravik, Jessie Kravik, Emily Johnson (Chris) and Katina Kravik and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Ormund was a remarkable man, a creative genius, a man of integrity with a strong work ethic. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota. Ormund was an entrepreneur and the founder of Northwire, Inc. in Osceola, Wisconsin, now owned by his son, Mark. He was a fiercely loyal and loving family man with a generous heart. Ormund entertained his family with tales of his ingenious pranks, always with a twinkle in his eye. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage. He and Eleanore enjoyed many trips to Europe, including Norway and Sweden. Ormund and his brother Reuben traveled to Russia. During the winters Ormund and Eleanore spent most of their time traveling in their motor home throughout the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico. In later years they wintered in Mesa, Arizona with many friends and relatives. Ormund always had colorful stories about their adventures when they arrived back in Minnesota.  Ormund and Eleanore lived on the North Shore of Forest Lake for over 40 years. He delighted in calling the ducks and geese to eat in their yard. Ormund was a unique and endearing man who touched many lives. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.


A Celebration of His Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 12, 2009 at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at a later date in Madison, Minnesota.  Memorials may be directed to Parmly LifePointes, 10720 282nd street.
